Lyndon was recognized in the 3rd Six Weeks Academic Pep Rally for his UIL participation, A Honor Roll, and Perfect Attendance.

I was unable to get a good picture of him-it's kind of a 'Where's Lyndon Game'!

Last Friday I took Lyndon and a friend to the Santa's Express Train Show. I can remember Momma taking us growing up so it was neat to see it again.

Our Toned Down Christmas Decor

We toned down our Christmas decorations this year due to time, a bathroom reno, & spending our Christmas out of town. We didn't put up a tree in the master or the dining room. We also didn't put a 'REAL' tree in the living room, but instead used the dining tree in the living room.

We love Christmas Cards! They truly are a gift.

Carl & Lyndon enjoyed hauling things on the trailer being pulled behind the golf cart.

They even hauled a tractor!

Lyndon showed one of his pigs at a show in Burkburnett. It was his 1st time to ever show and he did a great job. We also realized we still had a lot to learn about showing.

Christmas Day

We arrived in Tucson on Christmas Eve. After visiting with family it was time to get to bed so Santa could stop by.

Lyndon sprinkled his reindeer food.

He picked out the perfect cookies and left Egg Nog this year.

Then it was off to bed. Lyndon was extremely excited this year and couldn't stop giggling so he could go to sleep.

CHRISTMAS MORNING:

Santa found Lyndon and definitely spoiled him!

Austen also made a snow angel outside on the side walk for Lyndon even though their wasn't any snow anywhere else.....and he wrote Lyndon notes all over the bathroom mirrors.

After church we celebrated a wonderful Christmas at Grandmemere's with a delicious meal.

Then it was time for presents.

Last Week B4 Christmas

We had a GREAT Christmas with PowPow & PopPop on the Sunday before Christmas since we traveled to Tucson for Christmas.

The boys helped open the adults presents.

Carter & Grant bought Lyndon a 3DS game which he loved.

We enjoyed a great meal, lots of visiting time, & of course presents.

Lyndon came home with oodles of gifts.

Lyndon made a GIANT snowman cookie during his art lesson.

Lyndon did a great job in planning and decorating his cookie!

Lyndon had his school Christmas party on the last day of school which was the Thursday before Christmas. It felt really weird going to school so close to Christmas and also made me do lots of pre-planning to have everything ready for Christmas and for our trip, but it will be VERY nice to not be in school come June!

The teachers had a great idea of ordering pizza for the 3rd graders and having their party as a whole group.

The parents also brought a $5 gift for their child.

Lyndon was very excited about his Wii bowling game-I had purchased it on clearance months ago.

One of Santa's elves made his way to our home this year. Lyndon named Austen after reading the book, Elf on a Shelf. Lyndon asked me to get his baby book down and he picked Austen's name from a list of possible choices we used when picking Lyndon's name.

Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of all of Austen's mischief behavior!

The night that Austen "TP"-ed our Christmas tree was one of Lyndon's favorites!

Austen also: hung from the ceiling fan-upside down, posed as one of Lyndon's nutcrackers, made a bed out of toilet paper, turned the milk green, drew funny faces on our family ski picture, peeked over the living room curtains, read Lyndon's library book, hid in the wreath on our bedroom door, hid in the greenery above the kitchen window, made Lyndon a silly lunch from random items in the pantry, climbed in Christmas presents, hid in the cup holder of the car, wandered into the Wyndham in El Paso to hide in Lyndon's backpack. Lyndon enjoyed finding Austen each morning and even wrote a few notes to Austen and for Austen to deliver to Santa. I was beginning to worry about what Austen might do next, which made it more fun for Lyndon.

We are excited to see Austen next year as he spends his summer with Santa at the North Pole.

My only regret is that I didn't purchase Austen years ago.....why did I wait so long??????

God's Greatest Gift

The 3rd graders at our church pick their part in the Christmas play. After the 3rd grade picks their parts the other parts are then given to the older students. I teach the 3rd & 4th grade class and have for years so the play is definitely memorized by myself, but the students must memorize their lines. Lyndon wanted to be one of the 3 Kings. Lyndon actually had a speaking part when he was in kindergarten when the student to be Joseph was home sick. I bribed Lyndon into playing the part and we quickly memorized his lines. With all of this being said, he wasn't nervous since he already had experience and had weeks to prepare instead of hours.

Decorations, Snow, & UIL

Is this ridiculous? I am thinking that it is especially for our small little home. This is all of our Christmas decorations. I did sort through things this year. I have been in a 'Less is More' mood for over a year so it was time to purge.

I took my 1st ever personal day to stay home and get things accomplished. It was a WONDERFUL day & I could use a day like that monthly for sure. I had plans to hit the ground running as soon as I dropped Lyndon off at school, but Mother Nature had a surprise for us......

our 1st Snow of the season. It was beautiful & school was delayed, which meant I spent until 10:00 playing in the snow & building a snowman with Lyndon. It was a lot of fun!

On Wednesday Lyndon competed in the U.I.L. Academic Meet. I was a nervous wreck all day-it was his first year and I worried about him getting lost! He had great sponsors who kept me informed throughout the day & made sure he made his way to each meet. Lyndon participated in Spelling and was the alternate in Music Memory for 3rd grade. I was very proud of him. It was definitely an experience for him. His spelling test was on the computer, which was a surprise to both he and I.

We had our 1st Christmas for the year at the Ranch the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This is everyones year to spend with the other sides of their families on Christmas, but we all still celebrate on another day together.

We were also very thankful for the beautiful weather so that many could enjoy their meal outside.

After a wonderful meal for lunch at Momma & Daddy's we went to PowPow & PopPops for a wonderful supper.

Soccer, Love, & 2nd Six Weeks Academic Pep Rally

Lyndon finished his last soccer game a few weeks ago. The kids all did a great job.

I typically might not be so happy to see writing on my window....but......how could you complain to this? Lyndon wrote this note sometime when he was in the bathroom. I didn't see it until I took a shower and the window became foggy again...made my day for sure!

Lyndon had his 2nd 6wks Academic Pep Rally on Tuesday. Lyndon received the math department award, perfect attendance recognition, & the A Honor Roll recognition. Great job Lyndon!

Happy Halloween

Lyndon & I had fun decorating for Halloween this year. Of course we put things in different places each year which makes it fun!

This year we didn't buy any new decorations, but still had a lot of fun using what we had.

Lyndon is taking art classes after school one day a week and LOVES them!!!! He made this spooky skull &

this adorable scarecrow.

Momma and I brought home some of my late grandfather's milk crates this summer and we have had a lot of fun using them to decorate. My grandfather worked at several dairies during his lifetime and these crates are made only from metal and have the name of the dairy imprinted in them. I LOVE them!

The two wreaths on the backdoor were fun to put out....I bought them off of the clearance shelf last year after Halloween-it was fun to find them this year as we unpacked.

*If anyone knows how to paint a metal door with the plastic window panes so that the paint won't scratch off, please SHARE!!!!! Cody and I have touched this paint up so many times it is ridiculous and it obviously needs it again!

Trick-or-Treat

We began our Trick-or-Treating adventure at the Ranch.

We then hit the babysitter's and a few other homes before the grandparents'.

Momma greeted her Trick-or-Treaters in hippy atitre.

Lyndon wore his skeleton pjs under his fly suit since he had already taken his bath-they also glow in the dark which looks spooky when I check on him at night and he's glowing.

Lyndon had fun trick-or-treating as we left Memere & Pepere's-Momma forgot to turn off her porch light and Lyndon would wait for her to shut the door and then ring the doorbell again. He did it a few times and then told her the light was still on. They both had lots of giggles!

Not a Win or a Loss

It was damp and freezing at Lyndon's soccer game this morning!

You could see the water fly off of the ball as it was kicked.

Milk Duds Earn $

Wednesday night my CCD students at church munched on candy that I brought while we learned about Halloween's religious beginnings. As Lyndon was eating Milk Duds for the 1st time ever they pulled out his first molar! The tooth must have been slightly loose, but probably wasn't ready to actually come out. I knew it must have really hurt because Lyndon was very quiet for the rest of our class. The tooth fairy was extra generous & must have really wanted Lyndon's molar because he made $10. I can't imagine she wanted it that bad.....maybe she was running low on small bills? ...Who knows?....

Lyndon has vowed to never eat Milk Duds again though.

Halloween @ School

On Friday the kids wore their Halloween costumes to school for the annual Halloween Parade & for their Halloween Treat. Lyndon brought each of his teachers a Halloween goodie bucket which he picked out himself.

1st Six Weeks Pep Rally of 3rd Grade

Lyndon was very excited about his 1st Six Weeks Pep Rally in 3rd Grade. The 3rd grade was in charge of the entertainment and the kids acted like they were the stars of the high school pep rally. They made the pep rally so 'hot' that 2 of their teachers appeared in fire suits to extinguish the blaze; hence the theme of the week, Fire Prevention.

Soccer Game 1

Lyndon had his first soccer game this morning. His team has been practicing hard for a few weeks. The game began warm, but quickly became cool, windy, and then raining. The kids played in the rain since there wasn't any lightning. It was freezing to me. As soon as the game finished the bottom feel out of the cloud, drenching everyone on their way to the car. (The rain is such a blessing!)

Lyndon's team did great. I think the score was 3-2. We didn't win, but Lyndon did score a goal. We play the same team every Saturday so we will be back on the field next Saturday.

Not Orville Wright's Brother

It's not Wilbur Wright, but Wilber....Charlotte's friend's ancestor.

Lyndon's stockshow pig arrived at our house last night. A friend picked him out for Lyndon. Lyndon was ALL smiles last night.

Wilber already found a good place to 'root'.

Wilber is also going to need lots of "Lyndon-Wilber" time because he is not very tame! Being the reason for not having a picture of them together.

Lyndon was all smiles about Wilber until Cody tried to catch Wilber to pet him and begin to tame him. Lyndon was very disturbed with the noise pigs make! We assured Lyndon that Wilber isn't hurt or going to hurt anyone it is just the sound they make for protection. I'm not too sure that we convinced him. I remember feeling the same way when I showed a pig.

Panther Homecoming

Lyndon & I decided to try mum making this year instead of purchasing one. I thought it would be less expensive-not!....I do have a lot of extra supplies for next year, so maybe it will turn out to be.

9 Fabulous Years Old

On 9-11 we celebrated Lyndon's 9th birthday! It seems impossible that 9 years have already flown by!

His 1st gift was a personalized '9' t-shirt with locker stickers, bouncy ball, and a note as to the location of his next gift.

He wanted to collect them all before opening more.

On Monday I brought a big cookie cake and drink pouches to Lyndon's classroom. They were all a little silly as the pictures depict.

We are so proud of Lyndon and wish the past 9 years hadn't flown by so quickly. You are a very kind, smart, thoughtful, creative, & loving child. You love sports, animals, Legos, tractors, time with your friends, and family time. You are proud of who you are and have begun to stand up for yourself or standout from the crowd when you deem necessary. You are very sensitive and your feeling get hurt easily, but you disguise those feelings in public. I couldn't ask for a better kid....you truly are a gift from God! We love you more than anything! Happy Birthday Birthday Boy!

Finally Another Tooth 4 the Tooth Fairy

Lyndon lost 6 teeth before & during his kindergarten year. We haven't lost one since, until September 3rd. Lyndon had been working and wiggling #7 for awhile. It was really hard to wiggle & pull because it was SO crammed between two other teeth.

Lyndon has wanted to have a water birthday party for a few years. Usually with his birthday at the beginning of September it starts to cool off in the evenings and usually we even get a rain on his birthday weekend. If we were going to pull off a water party we needed to do it in August. We had a busy week preparing for his party during the first week of school!!!

His cake turned out fabulous! I'm always scared we won't have enough cake and then we usually have leftovers.

With it being so hot I had 3 tubs full of drinks. The poor adults were hot watching the kids play in the water.

Our LIttle Entrepreneur

Lyndon is very creative and made a desk out of the landscape cover for his 'was' train, but 'now' Lego table. He sold picture that he drew and colored as well as ice cold water to Cody and I. He had tax, receipts, & a tip can.

Lyndon carried his business over to The Tractor Shop where he created a snack cart. He used his $ to buy snacks at the DG and then sold his snacks to the vulnerable HOT employees. Lyndon watched the clock for several days and made his rounds.

He and a friend even set up a snack service at his house. Lyndon had been saving the $ for Lego roads. The first day Memere took Lyndon to DG to buy snacks he was VERY concerned about using his $ for fear his items wouldn't sell and he would be out the $. Of course he sold out daily! It was a great life lesson in business.

First Day of 3rd Grade

I can't believe Lyndon is in 3rd grade! My first year of teaching was in 3rd grade when Lyndon was only one year old! I thought it would be decades before Lyndon was that big and now it seems like yesterday!
Lyndon's morning began with his favorite...pancakes, but he was too nervous to eat more than a few bites. He then opened his 1st Day of School Cone filled with a few goodies.

I then hurried out the door since I had to be at school extra early for the 1st day. Cody and Lyndon came later.

Such a 'big' kid!

Lyndon is also super excited about having a locker this year. We had it organized before the 1st day-he couldn't wait! I also didn't get a picture of it..... I can tell I was frazzled!

Lyndon had a great day and after school Memere took him for his 1st Day of School ice cream at DQ. Lyndon was then Mr. Silly as the pictures portray!

I am excited to watch Lyndon grow and learn in 3rd grade. He has three awesome teachers and already loves them all. Yeah, to a great 1st Day of School!

River Walk Day #3

Saturday we began the day with Alamo at the Imax followed by touring the Alamo.

We then did a Mirror Maze which was crazy!!!!! Lyndon loved it.

Yikes!!!!!

We then went to Ripley's for a 4D video.

The video was skateboarding and snowboarding. It was really neat!

I've never felt so short until I stood by a replica of the tallest man in the world.

We then swam at the hotel before heading back out onto the river walk.

We also enjoyed another boat ride since it was a favorite.

Lyndon wanted to eat here once I explained the concept of being rude. He thought it sounded like a lot of fun; however, I feel confident he would not enjoy it once the table turned. Since Cody andI haven't eaten their either we were unsure if it was appropriate for children.

River Walk Night #1

We enjoyed our river boat ride.

My favorite building!

The man who had the building built was very superstitious and had the 'ugly faces' added to scare off unwanted spirits.

After the horrible flood in the 1920s which was the cause for many of the restorations to the river and the reason for the flood gates this tree began to grow out of the wall of this building.

Sea World

Our family vacation this year began on Thursday evening as we drove to San Antonio. We visited Sea World on Friday and enjoyed numerous shows and rides. This was Lyndon's 1st trip to Sea World.

The Vibrations Show was one of our favorites since we love the lake; however, our skills are NOTHING like these performers!

Lake & 6 Flags

A week ago we headed to PK for the day. We had a great time visiting and floating with friends inside Hell's Gate. Lyndon floating with his orange soda.

On Sunday night Lyndon spent the night at Blaine's house. This was Lyndon's 1st sleepover besides grandparents and cousins. I worried all night, but he did great!

On Monday Lyndon and I headed to Six Flags.

We tried the Judge Royce Scream again this year, but Lyndon still doesn't like the big roller coasters so we had fun with the milder rides.

Lyndon decided he was too small for this truck so he sat in the back instead.

As we were leaving a grandfather and two kids about 9-12 years old bungy jumped ( or whatever it's called when you hang with your belly face down and are pulled stories behind you before being released to swing.) Lyndon couldn't believe they would do that. It made my heart drop when they were released I can't imagine what it felt like to them. I think I would have a heart-attack!

We had a lot of fun, but couldn't WAIT to get home for a SHOWER!!!!!

Happy Birthday 2 Grandmemere

Each child picked out a present for Grandmemere. Lyndon picked out a wreath,

Aubrey picked out a trellis, &

Carl picked out a birdhouse.

We took Grandmemere to lunch at one of her favorite restaurants, Olive Garden.

Grandmemere took the kids to a magician store since they loved the magician. They were memorized by all of the tricks. Each child picked out a magic trick and after payment was made the magician showed each child how to perform their trick. I think magic tricks are more fun not knowing how they're performed because they seem so obvious when you figure out the trick.

A week later we were back on the road headed home. Each kid received a mini pillow pet as a surprise.

I wish Tucson wasn't so far or better yet that they all lived here!

Neighborhood Meeting

After enjoying pizza the Wii fun began.

One day we took the kids to the zoo & fun was had by all!

We were very excited to see the giraffes out. Days before our visit two giraffes were mistakenly fed a poisonous plant. Unfortunately one giraffe died and zoo keepers were trying to get the other to eat & thought it would survive. When we visited the giraffes the giraffe was eating as zoo keepers were determined to feed her. The local news was also present.

We celebrated Grandmemere's birthday with a pool & cookout party at Tante Lyn & Uncle Ken's.

Our Trip 2 Tucson

We spent a week visiting Grandmere & everyone else in Tucson in July. Momma & I took the 3 kiddos with us. Everyone did great in the car and stayed entertained. We had several challenges and games to also help.

We arrived very late so the next day was filled with building a club house in Grandmemere's backyard & ...

A Surprise 4 Lyndon & I

While Lyndon & I were in Tucson Cody did some cleaning and worked on a project he has wanted to do for several years. Cody LOVES windmills as did his grandfather. He has wanted to get the holding tank back in working condition. It's a neat rock holding tank above a rock building. As Cody began filling it Lyndon thought it would make a great 'pool'.

The bottom building Cody also cleaned out so that I can use it as a potting shed.

Cody is even going to have water inside the potting shed for me.

We still need to replace the door and windows.

Weekend with Memere & Pepere

Saturday morning Memere & Pepere took the grandkids to Wichita for swimming and fun! No parents aloud! :-) Actually we stopped by the hotel that evening for goodnight hugs & kisses. Cody took me out on a date. I wanted to go to Toys'R Us as they were having a huge sale. I have most of my Christmas bought!-Yeah!!!

The 1st stop was Olive Garden for lunch.

2nd was the Red River Nature Center for viewing and even touching.

Lyndon was excited to see my reaction when he told me he held a snake. It was a worm snake and it is actually so small in the pictures that I would consider it more of a worm. Of course if I was to see it on my patio I would probably scream and holler and call Cody to come kill the 'huge' snake! :-)

Then it was off to Homewood Suites for swimming!

& pizza delivery!

Carl even lost a tooth!

Off to the pool on Sunday!

What a great weekend! Lyndon even came home with a case of shark teeth from the nature center.

Lyndon CAN Water ski!!!!!!

We spent our weekend at the lake and Lyndon and Carl tubbed the days away! Due to the lack of rain and extreme heat I made them wear nose clips which they didn't enjoy the first time, but they quickly became accustomed to wearing them.

We tried to teach the boys to water ski and they both did GREAT! I was in the water on a tutorial raft to help them. Lyndon skied 3 times for about 100 yards each time.

This picture is out of order, but we went to visit PaPa on Sunday after church. It was great to see him.

Lyndon wanted to try to do everything himself from putting his skis on, getting the rope, and pulling himself up, but the wind didn't cooperate. He was determined to continue trying but we knew due to the wind it would just make him frustrated, so we will try next time.
