A Great Valentine's Day

We had a great Valentine's Day!  It began the night before with Cody finding a Valentine in his closet on his hamper...

& I found mine under my pillow!

Usually Cody and I have balloons and some candy sent to Lyndon at school which we did this year as well.  I have been on the lookout for a new coat for Lyndon.  He has made several 'hints' about wanting a black North Face coat like mine (ebay deal).  I would never consider paying full price for one especially for a kid since they won't be able to wear it for more than 2 years.  I have been looking on ebay for a deal for Lyndon for about a month.  I finally found this one & decided to wrap it up for Lyndon since it would be arriving before Valentine's Day.

We spent the evening enjoying a steak dinner at home!

I found these Valentine cards on Etsy and Lyndon customized them with the maroon background.  Lyndon gave his classmates each their own ticket with a Reeses Peanut Butter cup.

...& the Lamp

We woke up to snow again-yeah!

Not as much as our wheat would like, but.....every little bit helps!

I couldn't resist and decided to tackle the lamp today.  Yeah for me, it was just as easy as the chandelier!

Lyndon is feeling 'great' as he says and has been fever free all day! Yeah, we hate it when Lyndon doesn't feel good.

*Just look at all of the dust on the coffee table....yuck!  Gloria couldn't come last week due to the snow and we have been carrying in so much wood that it is probably dust and saw dust.  I am off to clean that mess!

New Chande

Lyndon has been running fever since Sunday so we have been home except for the two trips we have made to the doctor.  Both visits have revealed the same results...viral so we have to let it run it's course.  Luckily fever, tiny sore throat, bit of a bark cough, and energyless are his only symptoms.   We have layed around, cuddled, and watched movies and tv.  

Lyndon hasn't ran fever since in the night last night.  If his temperature continues to be normal today then we will be off to school tomorrow.While Lyndon has been lying around I decided to mark off my chandelier project.  I have been wanting to take the shades off and paint the candlestick parts.  I thought it would be a project but as I removed the shades and bulbs I was excited to find that the pipes just remove as well! Yeah, no mess!

I wish I would have had cream spray paint but I didn't so I just brushed on some paint.

How many pictures can I take of a chandelier????? Several obviously! :-)

Now I have a lamp I want to do the same thing to, but I don't think it will be as easy.

SuperBowl 45

We had a lot of fun yesterday lounging around the house before the big game.  Lyndon played Webkinz while all of his Webkinz watched.

We made fake snow from a science kit Lyndon received for Christmas.

We made colored crystals also from the science kit.

Lyndon made a chocolate cake which is delicious!!!!!

Cody made lots of delicious junk to eat like cheese sticks and a mexican dip.  We watched 'Despicable Me' after church which I thought was cute.

Lyndon was going to watch the big game at Memere's, but after I saw E! and they gave insight to the commercials which would be airing I wanted Lyndon to be with me so I could monitor.  WHY do they have to have commercials like they do?????  I could get on my soap box!!!!!  I knew of the Kim K commercial and was ready to flip channels every time it was a commercial break.  Luckily Lyndon had already gone to bed before it aired.  It's a shame that the millions of children who love sports can't also view the commercials...... Okay, I'll stop, I could go on and on!

*My favorite commercial was the tire commercial with the beaver who saved the mans life & the one I laughed the hardest at were the Doritos commercials.

*Lyndon and Cody were routing for the Packers: Cody really didn't care and I don't know why Lyndon wanted the Packers to win, but he did. :-)  I went for the Steelers only because during the Star Spangle Banner the majority of the Steeler players seemed to be at attention with their hand on their heart.  I love it when players set good examples and show our country respect.

*Cody thought it would be green gatorade, I thought yellow, and Lyndon picked red.  We were all wrong when it was orange-just like last year!

Lyndon WON!!!

Lyndon has entered the coloring contest that our electric company sponsors for the past couple of years, but he hasn't won.  He was beginning to get discouraged because he has entered numerous coloring contest at school, local library, and this one and until last year when he won 2nd place at a coloring contest at school he hasn't won.  I have tried to explain that it isn't about winning, but when you spend hours deciding on the perfect colors and even start over a few times I can see why he couldn't decide if he should enter or not.

His congratulatory letter, copy of his entry, & his $25 gift card arrived in the mail today.  Lyndon is over at PowPow & PopPops playing and I couldn't wait to call him.  He was excited!  It's not about winning but I am glad he realizes that his hard work and effort pays off as well.  Congratulations Lyndon!

A Snow Day

Today (It took me 2 days to upload the video with my slow internet.) we had our 1st Snow Day!  The weather has been a topic of discussion since last week.  I really wish we would have had more snow fall.  We really need the moisture, but every little bit helps.

The snow wasn't good for snowman building as it is too dry.  It has looked like a blizzard for most of the morning.  It began last night with what I would call hail...BB-pea size and it seemed to cover the ground quickly.  Then the wind blew and whirled snow everywhere.

Lyndon and I have had the fireplace burning log after log all day!

Lyndon has spent part of his day camped out in front of the Wii.

& the rest of Lyndon's day has been spent outside.  Kids are tough!  I would only let him stay out for about 10-15 minutes at a time because the temperature hasn't been over 20 degrees since yesterday.  I don't know what the wind chill is but they said it would be subzero.  I was trying to explain to Lyndon why he couldn't stay out for long periods of time and tried to explain frostbite.  The next time he went out he said, "I bet I get snow burned this time."  Got to love it!

Lyndon thought he didn't need his scarf, but that lasted about 5 seconds.

Lyndon enjoyed playing in the snow drifts.

This has been the scene all day.  I toss them into the dryer to dry and then he goes back out for a few minutes, over and over.  Such a fun day, though!

Lyndon has made snow-ice cream, snow milk, snow coke, & snow green tea for me.  Unfortunately the snow has specs of dirt from the wind, but Lyndon insisted we try it.

Jake has enjoyed the snow as well and came out to play for a little while.

It won't be fun making up our snow day, but it sure has been fun today!  Late start tomorrow??????? I'm hoping!...As I am waiting on my video to upload I received a text.....School is delayed until 10 in the morning!  Lyndon is excited!!!!!
