Christmas Decorations: Day I 1/2

Lyndon's room had been finished for a week, but I haven't been very good about keeping my postings up-to-date!
It is SO nice to have his room finished and he has enjoyed his decorations.  I wish I could figure out how to take good candlelight pictures.  My pictures never give me the warm cozy glow that I feel when I look at the decorations-reason for so many pictures!About 5 years ago I spotted an up-side-down Christmas tree and just HAD to have one.  Cody helped me to find the perfect cedar tree with a straight trunk (very hard) and drilled the holes in it while I inserted the branches.  I used a tree a sweet lady had given me.  She had had the tree for years and we have for several and I am going to redo it next year.  The branches are getting rusty and break when I try to fluff them.I originally decided to put this tree in Lyndon's room because I was worried he would break some of his ornaments or get hurt because he was so young.  It just works perfect because he still has floor space and we don't have to worry with things getting broke. We began Lyndon's nutcracker collection several years ago.  I had one and he loved it and we just began collecting them.  Most of them have a story to tell as to the purchase of them!Lyndon's turkey tree was a hit at school and he is now enjoying it in his bedroom.I always have to change things up from year to year and move them around.  It then makes me feel like everything is new and fresh.  I have hung these stars in about 4 different spots in his bedroom-thank goodness the screw hole is teeny tiny!Lyndon's tree is a collection of ornaments people have given him, Cody's favorite ornaments as a child, my favorite ornaments as a child, ornaments Lyndon has made, and ornaments Lyndon has found in the stores.  We have a blast decorating his tree and he becomes so excited re-discovering every ornament.  Notice the bottom half of the tree being the fullest-Lyndon could reach these branches! We usually always pick up some new Christmas decor after the season on clearance and pack it up for the next year.  It was fun finding all of our NEW items to use this year. There is everything from a Cowboy Football Player Nutcracker to an Irish one!In 2006 when Lyndon first learned how to write his name we made these three Christmas canvases.Christmas is SO fun and decorating Lyndon's room with him is wonderful!

Lyndon's Homemade Office

Last weekend Lyndon made his own little office with the board that goes on his train table.  He then made reading and spelling tests for me to take!  He loved that I 'accidently' didn't make a 100 on all of them!  Little joys!

Dallas Trip

*Phone Pictues and I abviously didn't hold the phone very still! On Sunday Momma, Mimi, and I headed to Dallas to do some Christmas shopping!  We began at the Galleria on Sunday before checking into our hotel and enjoying a dinner at Truluck's.  The Christmas tree at the Galleria was gorgeous and my sloppy photography doesn't capture the beauty at all!
On Monday Momma had a check up at the doctors before she could join us for more shopping.  We began at TJ Maxx (A favorite of mine and Momma's).  I bet Mimi didn't know you can spend 2 hours in there!!  I found several Christmas gifts and was very excited.  We then headed to Blue Mesa for lunch and North Park Mall for more shopping!  We shopped until about 5:00 and then headed home.  I had a great time and enjoyed spending the weekend with two wonderful people!  Of course I missed Lyndon and talked to him several times on the phone, but I think he was having too much fun with Cody and PowPow to notice I was gone. :)

Christmas Decorations: Day I

It happened...We began to decorate!!!  We were supposed to get our family pictures taken today,  but had to reschedule due to the very cloudy sky today.  I can't wait for next Sunday!  After finishing laundry, some Christmas shopping, and reorganizing some cabinets we began decorating Lyndon's room.Cody and I made his up-side-down tree several years ago and due to storing, it needs to be redone.  The tree I used was very old and the branches keep breaking when I try to straighten them.  I plan to pull all of the branches out after Christmas and restart next year.  I do not enjoy fluffing the tree, but make myself because it drives me nuts if the branches don't look so-so.It was fun to see some of our new items we bought after Christmas last year.Lyndon gets to pick just about everything on his tree-I the OCD Mom try to relax.  As you can see there are about 25 ornaments hanging on the bottom 8 branches. :)  But it looks great and he loves it!We enjoyed reminiscing on all of the ornaments. We began digging out Christmas stuff at 6:30, took a pizza break and finally finished his room at 11:30.  Lyndon was exhausted and therefore I didn't get pictures yet.  Lyndon was very excited to go to sleep in his 'new' room!

A Christmas Carol

Click to see A Christmas Carol Trailer
Today Lyndon and I went to WF to get some Christmas shopping done and to watch A Christmas Carol in 3D. It was FABULOUS! It was so great I called Momma afterwards to tell her she would love it and I would gladly go watch it again. Lyndon did get scared a little but he still said he loved it.
Notice my lenses-We decided to take a picture after the movie and switched glasses unknowingly.  I have Lyndon's greasy popcorn fingerprints all over my lenses from him covering his eyes as he cuddled with me during the 'ghost' parts.
We will definitely be buying it when it comes out on DVD.
We also needed to get Lyndon some jeans because he has worn holes in the knees of two pair in about 3 weeks. While in The Children's Place I found an adorable coat for Lyndon with the toggle buttons. It was on clearance and I grabbed it! -Can't wait for him to wear it. Lyndon also needed new shoes and we then headed to the grocery store before coming home.
I had a great day and am really itching for Christmas!

T.G.I.F.

Gosh, I sure was glad it was FRIDAY!!!!  Not sure why but it seemed to be a long week.  Lyndon wanted Grant to come over and play for a few hours after school.  They played with the puppies, ate ice cream, played football for the longest time, and then ate a cookie before Grant went home.  They just love to role around in the grass.  Lyndon wanted Grant to spend the night, but he has had a cough and has to go to WF in the morning-maybe next time!In the morning Lyndon and I are headed to WF to get Lyndon new shoes and jeans-how does he wear them out so quickly?????  We are also going to watch 'A Christmas Carol'.  I can't wait!!
