Sunny Yellow Desk

I purchased this desk and a nightstand last spring to redo.  We wanted a yellow desk for Lyndon's room.

Painted hardware and shelf paper were added.

Lyndon wasn't sold on the bamboo look & I found another desk that had more of a retro feel so we sold this one.

I guess I forgot to take a before picture, but this is  the matching nightstand.

Lyndon's Craigslist Find

Since Santa brought Lyndon a Wii he needed something different to house his tv, Wii supplies, and games.  I knew I wanted a 1970s styled dresser so I began looking on craigslist.  Most of the ones I found and liked where too long for this space until I found this one.  The owner told me it came from Germany when her brother's family was in the service; however, it appears to be an American furniture maker judging by the name.  After some paint and 'beating-up' it works perfect in Lyndon's room.  All of his Wii and sports cards, trinket helmets and things are in the drawers on the right and science toys, games, and play trinket-y stuff is in the drawers on the left.  Cody and I were amazed how HEAVY this piece of furniture is.

Christmas Break+Craigslist=FuN

I have been hunting for a china cabinet for several years, but finally really started looking in October.  I found this gem about an hour away for less than it cost to fill my vehicle up!  I love a bargain!!!!!!  The wife wanted a new china cabinet for Christmas.....not sure if she knows what a fun piece she was selling!  It was perfect for me.  After painting and then 'beating it up' it is just perfect for me!

Initially I wanted to display my china in it, but decided on this for starters.

Here is the before-dark & dated!  I love all of the storage: there is a shelf on one side and then a drawer on the top part of the left cabinet.

I also found, on Craigslist, a dresser for Lyndon's room (pictures turned out horrible so I'll post later) and Cody bought a camper travel trailer.  We enjoyed finding bargains, but they also took a lot of waiting and searching to get the best item for the best price.  We both had fun.

Dump Chair

I found this chair in the dump.  Cody grabbed it for me and took it to Mr. Stitch for a face lift.  It was a boring vinyl greenish and the wood was dark.  I picked out a white leather like material.  It is the material used to cover boat seats so it is super soft and durable.  I think I love it much more than leather!!!  I painted the woodwork a very light gray which was a mail freebie and sanded it.

Auction Table

Here is my 1st paint gun project...  I redid this table to donate for an auction benefiting a coworker of mine whose son has had numerous care flights to Cook's Children's Center this year due to two different accidents.  He is now doing great.  Prayers are answered!Here is the before-as you can see it needed help!As I worked on it I kept telling Cody I really want to paint it white and keep it! :-)My table turned out to be a hit with several bids placed.  The bid winner was my 3rd Grade teacher!  I remember how much I loved her in 3rd grade!I had a lot of fun redoing this little side table.  My next project is the dresser I use as a buffet table that was my dad's in his bachelor days.  It has been redone several times, but needs a facelift once again! & I also have about 8 ga-millon other things!

Celtic's Game

Very embarrassingly I totally forgot about these next few post pictures.  They are from Spring Break-horrible I know!  

Momma  purchased Celtic tickets for Lyndon and the three of us headed to Dallas for the game and some shopping.  Momma had finished repainting her living room and I had the perfect vision of the curtains she needed, but we were having trouble finding the fabric.  We hit several fabric stores with no such luck, but I did see this couch that I loved!!!!  I have this exact sofa in brown leather, but I love the white fabric with the nail head trim.  It has me thinking....We finally found some pre-made curtains that look great!Lyndon and Momma had a blast at the game, but I was more impressed with this lady who can balance bowls while riding a unicycle...The Celtics won which was great for Momma and Lyndon.  It was neat because Carter and Grant were also at the game and they were on the big screen TV monitors several times.  We never found them in person, but Lyndon sure was excited about them being on the monitors.Lyndon had his own money to spend from the PTO raffle ticket sales.  He was the 2nd High Salesman and was given a Toys 'R Us gift card for $25 and a Visa gift card for $50.  Lyndon had a blast deciding what to buy and was extremely frugal with his money.  He called his gift card a credit card and loved that he even had to sign his name on the receipt for his purchases.  I think I am going to purchase a gift card for him the next time we go shopping because it was a great lesson for him.  As a child it is still a little difficult for him to understand that if I pay with check or credit card I still have to have the money.  It also kept him from asking for 'everything' in sight.  It was a great experience on money management.  In the end he made some great choices.  He purchased two dwarf African frogs that are very easy maintenance! :)  Some Legos at the Lego store and a remote control vehicle toy, & a DS game.  The frogs were his favorite and he was very concerned about them.  He named them Celtic and Maverick.  They are the easiest pets as the water only needs to be cleaned every 4 months and they only eat twice a week!

We had a great trip.  I was able to get us booked into the Hilton Anatole for a steal, we made a trip to IKEA, Celtics won, found a HomeGoods, Lyndon had a blast with his shopping, and Memere took Lyndon swimming while I got packed.  Thank you Memere for a fun trip!
